The Orchard Hotel (Guoyuan luguan) is another place that houses a fair number of foreigners. The hotel is perfectly located, opposite the entrance to the Tashilhunpo Monastery.

The hotel has a Chinese style outlook, provides pretty cheap dorm beds and double rooms. Hot water is available in some of the romms, although as it is solar powered, in practice this is fairly problematic.

This hotel provides clean and cheap lodging, and is a good place for budget travelers to base themselves.
