A deluxe 5 star sightseeing train will soon be up and running on the newly-completely Qinghai-Tibet railway, Ma Jiantang, vice governor of Qinghai province, revealed during a tourism promotion meeting held in Shanghai.

The details of the deluxe travel route are still under discussion, as the train will be available only after the Qinghai-Tibet railway has been formally opened for a while.

The deluxe train is designed to reach 5 star standards. It will be equipped with an advanced oxygen-support system, like those used in airplanes. An on-board medical service will also be provided.

The cars of the train will be completely transparent, allowing passengers to view scenery from all sides. Passengers will be able to take showers on the train and enjoy dance performances and karaoke. The train will only carry 100 passengers at a time

The sightseeing train will pass many tourist attractions on the Tibetan plateau, including Lake Namtso, Kunlun Mountain, Yangbajing thermal spring as well as Potala Palace.

The train is aimed at foreign travelers, with the price of this deluxe tour of "the roof of the world" set for $1,000 per day.
