Shigatse boasts several local dishes. There are, for instance, Tibetan sausage, high-land barley wine and yak butter, beef and mutton, tongue of yak that served cold and dressed with sauce, tsampa, various kinds of cookies and sweat tea, milk tea, yoghurt, roasted sausage, dried meat, shapu (smashed meat) and so on. All these dishes can be found served in the night fair near the bus station, where the delicious Tibetan flavor would never disappoint you.

Tips:

The best-known Tibetan Food in Shigatse is that from Sichuan Province. It is known for its hotness, with pimento, red pepper and other such spices used liberally. RMB 10 yuan to 20 yuan is enough for each person to have a hearty meal. If you like to try the native flavor, Tibetan hamlets are recommended. Of course, you can taste some delicious food at the night fair near the bus station. Most restaurants with Sichuan and Tibetan flavor can be found near North Liberation Road and Qomolangma Road.
