No ticket prices hike at all tourist sites in Tibet

According to People's Daily, the regional government of Tibet has promised to ban ticket price hike at all tourist sites within the autonomous region this year.

Since the opening of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway on July 1 last year, Tibet has witnessed a rapid development of tourism. According to some sources, the number of visitors to Tibet reached 2,510,000 in 2006, up 37 percent from the same period last year. The tourism income amounted to 2,770,000,000 yuan. As many as 116,000 visitors flocked to Tibet in the first quarter of 2007, up 15.8 percent from the same period last year. And the tourism income reached 105,000,000 yuan, up 16.5 percent from the same period last year.

Measures to control the number of visitors such as lilmiting the time duration of visits and the flow of visitors. Besides, the narrow stairs of tourism sites will be widened and traffic signs will be set up. And in peak seasons from July to September, not only the opening hour will be prolonged but also tourists will also be allowed to book admission tickets to tourism resorts
