Comba Telecom Systems, a wireless enhancement solutions provider based in Hong Kong, announced that it is working on a series of wireless enhancement projects in Tibet, including one that will enable mobile telecommunications coverage along the Qinghai-Tibet Railway.
Connecting Xining, Qinghai Province and Lhasa in the Tibet Autonomous Region, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway has 45 stations and runs on high altitudes. Comba is installing a range of repeater solutions along the entire railway. It has already completed Phase 1 of the project and is currently working on Phase 2.
Comba also is installing solar powered repeater solutions to enable better mobile communications along highways linking Lhasa and the Zhufeng Station on Mount Qomolangma (Everest) and for the highways linking Zhufeng Station to Base Camps one and two.
Comba's Chairman and President Tony TL Fok, said, in a statement, We are pleased that our products are helping to provide telecom access to more remote areas in the country, and are especially proud that we are enabling wireless communication coverage along the world's longest railway running on the highest altitude.
Comba also is involved with improving wireless communications along key routes related to the 2008 Beijing Olympics
