Architecturally rich ancient Chinese town of Lijiang to the lush lake-dotted hills of China's Yunnan Province

Continue to China's rural, southwestern Yunnan Province. Spend several nights at the Banyan Tree Lijiang, a luxury resort in Lijiang- one of China's best-preserved traditional villages, located in the foothills of the Himalayas. Tour the cultural and scenic highlights of the region: Visit hilltribe villages, see ancient Buddhist frescoes, attend a Naxi musical concert, browse the shops and charming streets lining canals in town, and visit monasteries and beautiful parks at the base of the mountains.

Tiger Leaping Gorge with a splendid view of the swift turbulent current of the Golden River is created through constant cutting by the waters between Jade Dragon Mountain and Haba Mountain, 17 kilometers long, the gorge drops about 300 meters in a series of 18 rapids, and is divided into the Upper Gorge, the Middle Gorge and the Lower Gorge. The Lower Gorge is the most awe-inspiring part of all. The gorge, in which the Golden Sand River pounds furiously at its rocky shores in an awesome fashion, sending up skyfuls of white froth, is a dream place for adventurers.

Day by day itinerary

Day 01. Arrical Lijiang (D)
Sightseeing:Lion Hill; black dragon pool , Lijiang ancient town

Arrive in Lijiang in the morning. City tour to visit Wangulou Pavilion of Lion Hill;Black Dragon Pool and Dongba Museum, the Tree Wells and Local vegetable Market in Dayan Ancient Town.

Day 02 Lijiang-Jade Dragon Snow Mountain-Lijiang (B+D)
Sightseeing: snow mountain . shuhe ancient town Baisha Village.
Special Experience: Enjoy Naxi Orchestral and Show in Dongba Palace at night.

You'll visit Ganhaizi Meadow, Baishui(White Water) River; take the chairlift to visit the Yak Meadow(3700M) in the Yulong Snow Mountain that stretches a length of 35 kilometers (22 miles) and a width of 20 kilometers (13 miles). Looking from Lijiang Old Town in the south which is 15 kilometers (nine miles) away, the snow-covered and fog-enlaced mountain resembles a jade dragon lying in the clouds, hence, the name is Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The highest peak named Fan Peak (Shanzidou in Chinese) which is about 5596 meters above sea level. There are three cable cars in the mountain, the fist to the Glacier Park(4500M), the second to Spruce Meadow(3200M),the third to Yak Meadow(3700M).

In the afternoon, you'll stroll through Baisha Village, which is an enchanting traditional Yunnan village. Visit the Baisha Mural about 600 years old, which is one part of the World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO 1997. After dinner, you will attend the Naxi Orchestral and Show in Dongba Palace.

Day 03 Lijiang-Qiaotou- Tea-horse Trade Guest House (B+L+D)
Sightseeing: the upper three Tiger Leaping gorge Hiking.

We will depart Lijiang early in the morning to take a 2.5-hour drive to Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the world's deepest gorges tucked between Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the Haba Mountain. After crossing the river, we will drive to Qiaotou, where we will start our trek along the high path of this 17-km gorge along the Yangtse River.

In the morning, we will first trek two hours to Naxi Family Guest house, have a good lunch there. Then we will trek another 2-3 hours further up the steep 28-bends and reach the top of 2670m along the way. We will stay at Tea-horse Trade Guest House tonight with great view of the Yulong Snow mountain and the Gorge, hot shower, clean and comfortable rooms and delicious local food.

Day 04 Tea-horse Trade Guest House/Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge-Hetaoyuan(Walnut Garden) (B+L+D)
Sightseeing: Naxi villages , middle Gorge

Hiking Duration: 5-6 hours

This morning will be left free for a good rest and visit of the local family in the village. We will start out at noon pass waterfalls and old bridge on the way and down to middle Tiger Leaping Gorge, where less tourist and more wild and narrow.

When you arrive in Tina's Guest house,you will check in and take a break in the guest house, then walk down to the bank of the river to sightsee waterfalls, rocks,, the most narrow part of the Tiger Leaping Gorge,Gate of Gorge(30M wide only), and the One Thread of Sky. When you walk to the bank of the river, you can choose the same way back ,or you can climb the Sky Ladder up to the road,but the Sky Ladder is built along the cliff,it is vertical and dangerous.It is a challenge for you in your life. Night stay at Woody Guesthouse.

Day 05 Hetaoyuan(Walnut Garden)-Haba Village (B+L+D)
Sightseeing: Haba Village,

Hiking Duration: 6-7 hours

We will leave the guest house after breakfast and walk to Haba Village, where we will spend the night. After arrival, we will take a gentle walk along hills around the village, from which you can get a spectacular view of the surrounding snow peaks.

Day 06 Haba Village-Baishuitai-Shangri La (B+L+D)
Sightseeing: White water terrace-Gyalthang

Today we continue by car to White Water Terrace, where the Naxi culture originated. The village's name comes from the white rock formations shaped like small rice terraces located just above the town. Another 3-4 hours drive west we will reach Shangri La, a small town on the Tibetan Plateau. At 3,300 m (10,000 ft) above sea level (only 400m lower in altitude than Lhasa) the climate here is cool year round. As we coast along we'll enjoy beautiful mountain scenery and Yi and Tibetan villages, like as we ascend the Gyalthang plateau.

Day 07 Shangri La (B+L+D)
Sightseeing: shangri-la . Songzanling monastery .Napa lake etc

Special Experience: Tibetan Family Made and taste the Butter Oil Tea,Tibetan barbecue and Cheese as your simple dinner.

After breakfast, Visit the Grand Gedan Songzang Lin Tibetan Lamaist Monastery which is wellknown as the 2nd potala palace about 500 Lama monks living there, built in 1679,site chosen,expanded by Dalai V.

In the afternoon, drive 30KM. to visit the Pudacuo National Reserve Park with Shudu Lake and Bita Lake, which is a primitive forest of coniferous trees and highland lakes, lying 3,539M. above sea level in the heart of national nature reserve. Then sightseeing Summer Pastures at Napa Lake. Visit Tibetan Village & try family made. Finally, pay a visit to the Ancient Town of Shangri-La.

Day 08 Shangri La-Kunming-Stone Forest-Kunming (B+L+D)
Sightseeing: stone forest Kunming City Tour,green lake

the Golden Horse and Phoenix Archway.
Special Experience: Taste the typical Yunnan food which is named Bridge crossing Noodles.

In the morning, transfer to the airport to take the flight for Kunming.
You will drive 86 km to the Stone Forest. There is a local saying: 'It is a waste of time not to visit the Stone Forest while visiting Kunming', which vividly expresses the deep love of the local people toward this world wonder. The quintessential karst landscape makes every tourist lost in wonder.

After lunch drive back Kunming to visit the landmark of Kunming-the Golden Horse and Phoenix Archway, which is located at the corner of Sanshi Road and Jinbi Road. And then, you will take a leisurely stroll along the Green Lake, a charming area of teahouses and small boutiques selling handicrafts and beautiful local paintings.

Day 09 Kunming-Departure.
