Losar, an important traditional festival for Tibetans, must be kept, according to Pasang Dondrup, political advisor of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) during an interview on March 4.

Referring to Losar, or Tibetan New Year, Pasang Dondrup was still very happy although he could not spend the festival in Lhasa. He said he felt delighted when watching the Losar gala on TV and hearing from his relatives that the Losar celebrations were joyous as usual in Tibet.

"The annual Losar is very important for our Tibetans", said Pasang Dondrup, adding that "we should not only celebrate it but also enjoy a happier Losar, since our living standards are improved year by year".

Although the Dalai clique incited not to celebrate Losar in Tibet, in fact, the Tibetans spent a festive and auspicious Losar since it fell on Feb. 22 this year.

"Losar won't be deserted by us since it is a long-lasting ethnic tradition. As a Tibetan, I cannot help asking: why can't we celebrate our own Losar festival?" said Pasang Dondrup.

Losar is celebrated among Tibetans from the first day to the fifteenth day in the first month based on the Tibetan calendar. Its festive celebrations can be traced back to the pre-Buddhist period in Tibet.
