Tibetan epic opera will be staged in Beijing
Grand Tibetan epic opera "Princess Wencheng", which will be staged at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing,China's most prominent arts center, from Oct 10 to 11, 2012.
The subversion of the old mode, adherence to the philosophy of 'mountain, water, people' and the portray of the most loved and revered Princess Wencheng from the perspective of the Tibetan people is the greatest innovation to this epic opera, which is also highlighted with the original Tibetan music elements and artistic techniques.
The opera tells the stories about Princess Wencheng in China's Tang Dynasty(618-907 A.D.) and her marriage with Sontzen Gampo, king of Tubo Kingdom in ancient Tibet over 1, 300 years ago.The princess dedicated almost all her life in developing Tibet and bringing advanced Chinese culture to Tibet, therefore she was revered by the Tibetans generation after generation.
