First temple of Buddha-Trandruk Temple
The "netizens experience Losar in Tibet" activity group visited the Trandruk Temple to appreciate the majestic grandeur of the first temple in Tibet ON 18th,Jan,2013.
The Trandruk Temple is the first temple of Buddha built in Tibet in the period of King Songtsan Gambo. It is located in the south of Gungbort Mountain on the east bank of Yalong River, two kilometers away from Nedong County in Lhoka Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR).
The most precious treasure in the temple is a huge piece of pearl Thangka depicting Avalokitesvara taking a break. Measuring 2 meters long and 1.2 meters wide, the Thangka is mounted with a total of 29,026 pearls, 15.5 grams of gold, 1,997 corals, a diamond, and some other precious stones.
