Salt pan in Mangkam County of Tibet
The Mangkam County where is lacated in the southwest of Tibet Autonomous Region and the North of Yunnan Plateau, and it is also famous of the Salt pan scenery.
According to the historical records, the people in Mangkam begun to salt production as early as in the Tang Dynasty(about a history of more than 1,200 years). The local people digged a well in the mountain where was closed to the Lancang River. Removed the rocks that are made of salt brine and then evaporated them by sunshine.
There are more than 3000 pieces of salt pan in Naxi ethnic townships, and the annual output of that are hundreds of kilograms of various types of salt. The salt production has became an important economic income of the local villagers.
In recent years, because of the special saltern scenery and the ethnic customs in Mangkam County, more and more tourists will be visit this area, and also the tourists industry became another main industry in Mangkam.
