Spring comes Tibet

Time: 2013/4/28

Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region is now greeting its peak travel season as the weather is getting warm since April.

The region has received 300,599 tourists at home and abroad in the first quarter with the total tourism revenue hitting 300.26 million yuan (48.67 U.S. dollar), up 31.1% year on year.

Tourists can be seen everywhere at the most celebrated tourist attractions such as the Potala Palace, the architectural icon of Tibet, the Barkhor Street, the busiest shopping street in Lhasa and the Norbu Linka, the summer palace of generations of Dalai Lamas, reported the People's Daily.

Last year, Tibet has invested heavily in promoting its tourism resource in inland markets, especially stepped up the promotion of "winter tour" to absorb tourists during the low season.
