Thangka Festival held in Tibet
Time: 2013/5/23
Lamas unfold a huge thangka, a painting on silk with embroidery, at Tsurphu Monastery in Tibet Autonomous Region, May 21, 2013. The Thangka Festival was held on Tuesday, attracting many believers to the monastery to pray, get blessed and appreciate the big and vividly woven thangka. Tsurphu Monastery is the most important monastery of the Karma Kagyu lineage, which is probably the largest and certainly the most widely practiced lineage within the Kagyu school, one of the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
