Lijiang Ancient City

Lijiang Ancient City, so far the most intact and representative one characteristic of ethnic traits in China, was first constructed in the late period of the Southern Song Dynasty, so it has a history of more than 800 years. Listed by the UNESCO in 1997 as a world cultural heritage site, it is a dreaming garden for people longing for a haven of peace different from today's modern cities. Its architecture is noteworthy for the blending of elements from several cultures that have come together over many centuries. Lijiang also possesses an ancient water-supply system of great complexity and ingenuity that still functions effectively today.
