Tibet Attractions - Chamdo
- Garma Village
Garma is famous as the village of painters. It has a history of more than 800 years in painting Thangka pictures and murals. Painters from this village established the Gardeng Garzhub painting school, which is created by local painters.
- Kanuo Ruins
Located in Kanuo Village, 12 kilometers southeast to the Chamdo county town, the Ruins are with an altitude of 3,100 meters.
- Chambaling Monastery
Chambaling Monastery is similar with other major Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries, with the well-reserved statues, frescos and Tangkas. The monastery is famous for its religious dance named Guqing which is performed in every Tibetan New Year. Dancers perform in splendid costumes with gruesome masks, all movements in harmony. Such religious dance has high reputation on the whole Tibetan plateau.
- Riwoche Tsuglhakhang
Founded in 1276 by Sangye On, who relocated to Kham after the death of this master Sangye Yarjon (1203-72), the third leader of the Talung order, Riwoche started as an offshoot of Talung Monastery in U.
- Zezhol Monastery
The Zezhol Monastery has a long history of about 3,000 years. During the 14th century, the monastery was rebuilt by a famous hierarch of the Bon religion. Legend has it that Amitabha once preached Buddhism on Mt. Zezhol and predicted that Mt. Zezhol would play a very important role in the development of the Bon religion and that many great Bon masters would appear there.
- Hongla Mountain Ecological Tourist Area
A nature reserve of the Tibet Autonomous Region, it has an average elevation of 2,300- 4,400 meters. It is a habitat of some 200 rare golden monkeys, which are close to their extinct in the world.
- Rawo-tso Lake
Ranwu Lake is just by the Sichuan-Tibet road, surrounded by glaciers and snow mountains.
