Tibet Attractions - Lhokha
- Dorje Drak Monastery
Dorje Drak Monastery, the "Indestructible Rock" ,along with Mindroling Monastery are the two most important Nyingmapa monasteries. Due to its remoteness and romantic site, Dorje Drak monatery is less accessible, that many travelers to Tibet don't get a chance to see what's left of the site.
- Lhamo La-tso,the Oracle Lake
This small oval 'Oracle Lake', is where senior Tibetan monks go for visions to assist in the discovery of reincarnations of the Dalai Lamas.
- Hot Spring in Oiga
In a small pastureland in the Oiga Town there are seven hot springs. Though it is not as famous as the Yampachen hot spring,the spring water here is effective for treating thestomach and eye diseases and welcomed by local people.
- Drataug Monastery
Dratang Monastery belongs to the Sakyapa Sect, was established in 1081, the founder of monastery Drapa Eshepa who is one of the 13 sages in Dranuang County.
- Yalong Scenic Area
In Lhokha Prefecture, it is a picturesque gallery composed of pastureland, river valleys, the snow-capped mountains and glaciers and ancient religious sites.
- Chim-puk Hermitage
Chim-puk Hermitage is a warren of caves that was once a retreat for Guru Rinpoche and other high ranking lamas. Chim-puk Hermitage is to the north-east of Samye. After crossing through desert-like territory for a couple of hours, the path ascends into the surprisingly lush area in which the caves are found. It can be an ideal route for day hike.
- Museum of Lhokha
The first of its kind in Tibet, the Lhoka Prefecture History Museum is a showcase of cultural treasures of different periods
- Samye Monastery
Samye Monastery is the first monastery for the monks in Tibet.The monastery was built in 779 under the supervision of Master Padmasambhava and Tibetan King Trisong Detsen.
- Yumbulagang
Yumbulagang Palace, known as the first imperial palace in Tibet, was built for Nyatri Tsanpo, the first Tibetan King in the 2nd century BC. It then became the summer palace of Songtsan Gampo and Princess Wencheng.
- Rechung-puk Monastery
A popular pilgrimage site associated with the illustrious Milarepa, the remains of Rechung-puk Monastery are set high on a dramastic escarpment that divides the two branches of the Yarlung Valley.
- Trandruk Monastery
Trandruk Monastery is famous throughout Tibet since it was the first Buddhist chapel ever built in Tibet. Trandruk is one of the earliest Buddhist monasteries in Tibet, having been founded at the same time as the Jokhang and Ramoche in Lhasa.
- Mindroling Monastery
Mindroling Monastery was built in the late 10th century and had its current name when it was rebuilt in 1677. It is one of the three great monasteries of the Rnyingma Sect. The monastery has paid attention to the research of Buddhist classics, astronomical calendar, calligraphy rhetoric and Tibetan medicines and is famous for its achievements in these fields.
- Tombs of the Tibetan Kings
Located at chong Gye, the Tombs of the Tibetan Kings is 30 km from Tsedang. Buried here the kings, the ministers and the royal concubines from the 29th Tuboking, to the last. It is also the only tumuli group in Tibet. From all of the tombs, the most remarkable one is King Songtsan Gampo's.
