- Nietang Buddha
Nietang Buddha,also name Drolma Lhakhang,lies at the north foot of Nietang Mountain in Qushui County,about 20km (12.4 miles) southwest of Lhasa city,can be reached in 30mins by car from Lhasa.
Being the biggest stone statue engraved on a cliff in Tibet,it is the first attraction to welcome visitors to Lhasa.As you enter Tibet from Gonggar Airport,you will pass the statue on their way to downtown Lhasa. - Chakpori Hill

- Mindroling Monastery
Mindroling Monastery is founded in 1676 by Minling Terchen Gyurme Dorje. The monastery enjoyed a close association with the Fifth Dalai Lama, but was destroyed during the Dzungar war of 1717-8 and was rebuilt during the reign of the Seventh Dalai Lama (1708-1757). The heads of Mindroling are the hereditary successors of Minling Terchen. The last head, Minling Trichen Rinpoche, was the eleventh throneholder.
- Dorje Drak Temple
Dorje Drak Temple was founded by the First Rigdzin Godemchen Ngodrub Gyeltsen (1337-1409). In 1632 the monastery relocated from Tsang to its present tranquil setting on the north bank of the Brahmaputra, when the young Third Rigdzin Ngagiwangpo and his guardian Jangdak Tashi Topgyel were forced to flee the wrath of the kings of Tsang.
- The Dolma LhaKhang Temple
The Dolma LhaKhang Temple is a monastery in Nyethang founded most probably by Atisha. It is located in twelve miles southwest of Lhasa).

Gangpo Ri is one of the most famous holly mountains in Tibet.
- Namseling Manor
Built in Ming Dynasty, perhaps the only building of its type still standing in Tibet, this ruined multistory family mansion is a minor site. You might find it worth a visit if you have your own transport.
- Dranang Monastery
About 48km east of Gongkar airport is the turn –off to the 11th-century Dranang Monastery. This small Sakyapa monastery of only 18 monks is of interest mainly to art specialists for its rare murals, which combines Indian and inner Asian styles. Bring a torch to see the murals/.
The assembly hall has central statues of Dorje Chang and the monastery’s founder, Drapa Ngonshe. Look for the interesting oracle costume and mirror wall. - Dorje Drak Monastery
Dorje Drak was forcibly relocated to its present site in 1632 by the kings in Tsang and then sacked by the Dzungar Mongols in 1717. The monastery is headed by a line of hereditary lamas known as the Rigdzin, named after the first Rigdzin Godemachen, who are thought to be reincarnationsof Guru Rinpoche. The 10 the Rigdzin Lama currently resides in Lhasa.
- Talung Monastery
The monastery is located in the green fields of the Pak-chu Valley, about 120km north of Lhasa. It is a sprawling monastic complex of Talung. Destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, now the rebuilding is underway.
- Ani Sangkhung Nunnery
Ani Sangkhung Nunnery is a convent where the females study Buddhism. Its history can be traced back to 7th century. Ani Sangkhung emphasize the beliefs of Guanyin Bodhisattva -the Goddess of Mercy. Hundreds of flowers surround the house and is a tea house is located in the yard. It is a nice place for a cup of tea after a long day of sightseeing.
- Shugsheb nunnery
Shugsheb Nunnery,the home to over 280 nuns,is the largest nunnery in Tibet. Trekkers and anyone who likes to get off the beaten track will love this excursion.It locates in a large natural bowl, which is about 65km south of Lhasa. It takes a 45-minute hiking to get up there from the end of the motorable road.
- Drak Yerpa
Drak Yerpa, also called Brag Yer-pa, Yerpa, Dagyeba, Dayerpa or Trayerpa is about 16 km northeast of Lhasa on the northern bank of the Kyichu. Walking for another 10 km, you then reach the spectacular limestone cliffs of the Yerpa Valley, also the location of the famous ancient meditation caves.
- Zaki Temple
The only temple of God of wealth
